Drew Patchin
Drew Patchin was only 6 ½ years old when he was diagnosed with Anaplastic Ependymoma, a childhood brain tumor. Drew quickly became known for his courageous and unwavering battle, which he faced with remarkable strength, grace, and resilience for more than six years. Just as memorable as his bravery was Drew’s genuine kindness toward everyone around him and his sense of humor, which brought light, laughter, and comfort even in the hardest moments. He had a rare ability to make others feel seen, included, and cared for.
Drew accomplished so much in his short 12 years. He proudly served as the honorary parade marshal of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, became a Junior FBI Agent, and joined the UMSL Tritons baseball team. Drew’s dream of being famous came true in 2023 when he hosted the Fox2 Morning Show, a moment that brought joy to everyone who knew him.
In August 2025, Drew became a published author with his inspiring book, "Marshmallow Can Do Hard Things." Through the lovable character, a narwhal named Marshmallow, Drew shares that anyone can face challenges by making a plan and practicing. Drew’s book has been sold in all 50 states and seven countries and he was intereviewed by Paige Hulsey of KMOV about his success.
Drew and his family shared countless special memories together, including amazing travels with a special love for Disney adventures. Drew had a big heart for mascots, and his favorites included Fredbird, Louie, and Disney’s beloved Dopey along with the playful brother duo Chip and Dale. These characters brought him endless joy and laughter.
Though his life was far too short, Drew’s impact was extraordinary. His courage, kindness, humor, and spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him and in the many lives he inspired.
